13 dead in school shooting in Russia

MOSCOW, Russia — A gunman killed 13 people, including seven young people, and wounded 21 others at an academy in central Russia on Monday, authorities said.

Russia’s Investigative Committee said the arrest took place at an academy in Izhevsk, a metropolis about 960 kilometers (600 miles) east of Moscow in the Udmurt region. The injured were 14 teenagers and seven adults, the commission said.

The unidentified gunman shot himself, Udmurt Governor Alexander Brecharov said in a video.

Varsity teams teach teenagers between first and eleventh grades. She was evacuated and the world around her was locked down, the governor said.

According to the commission of inquiry, the gunman was wearing a black T-shirt with a “Nazi symbol” on it. Different details about the shooter or his motives have not been released.

Izhevsk is a metropolis of 640,000 people located west of the Ural Mountains in central Russia.
