So he spent the ensuing years assembling in-house designers, mechanics and designers to completely rebuild and transform the world’s largest laundromat.
Currently, laundromats offer potential customers plenty of space to sit, relax, fold laundry, or meet up with friends to do homework.
Benson is also committed to serving the Berwyn community. He mentioned that he would have accomplished nothing without the loyal and committed employees of his potential clients. He has been trying to make sure his colleagues not only look like the community they serve, but are members of that community, since Berwyn’s residents are predominantly Hispanic. Benson mentioned that most of his employees live within two miles of the store, and most have been with the company for more than 10 years because of the home environment he’s trying to create.
Benson and his family have been a vibrant part of Berwyn, hosting their annual fireworks display and annual college bike raffle on the internet. He even has an avenue named after him after the laundromat.
“This place is about the neighborhood,” mentions Benson. “We set ourselves the bar too high and don’t want to disappoint anyone. We want to be a laundromat that caters to everyone’s needs.”
