Brittney Griner’s college coach was criticized for not speaking out about Jailed Star

The sports world was in an uproar after Britney Greener’s former coach refused to talk about the WNBA star’s detention in Russia.

Griner was sentenced to nine years in prison after a Russian court found her responsible for drug smuggling and possession last month. Moscow airport officials said in February they found 0.7 grams of cannabis oil in their luggage.

Video footage of LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey’s press conference began circulating on social media on Monday after a sports reporter asked her for a two-part question.

“I just wanted to get your thoughts on Brittney Griner’s situation,” the reporter said in part. “I don’t think I saw anything from you…”

“Neither did you,” Malkey replied. “I will reply to these [first question] Give you. “

Mulkey previously coached at Baylor College, and Griner was the tallest athlete on the college’s national championship team in 2011-12, so spinning.

However, regardless of their mutual success on the court, the duo may not be heading in the right direction.

Griner, a 31-year-old lesbian, told ESPN that Mulkey stopped employees from talking about her sexuality. Reporter Kate Fagan also claimed that Mulkey tried to get ESPN to fire her because she covered up the controversy.

Mulkey’s response to Monday’s inquiries about Griner drew a backlash on social media, with some customers classifying it as grim.

“She’s who we think she is… unhappy in the past. She didn’t even offer ‘ideas and prayers,'” said lawyer and political commentator Bakari Sellers wrote in a tweet. “Mulkey doesn’t care about BG. That’s how she treats her former gamers. That’s how she treats individuals.”

Sports writer Daniel Connolly said: “Kim Mulkey had the opportunity to say and do absolutely *mandatory* things to say and do about Britney Greenner, and as an alternative, it decided to give up any soulful appearance.” tweet.

Of course, the Twitter client presented Griner’s monitoring report as a Mulkey participant.

“[T]He is disgusting,” Yahoo!physical activity Columnist Sharis Manza Young wrote in an article tweet. “Griner performed for Mulkey at Baylor, she was a two-time Wade Trophy winner and a national champion).”

While others came up with a lot of alternative phrases to explain Malkey’s response.

“Inexcusable, offensive, untenable, ridiculous,” said Mitchell Northam, digital producer for North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC, tweet“These are the main phrases that come to mind here when Kim Mulkey refuses to touch a participant who gave her a national title and was unjustly imprisoned in Russia. When people let you know who they are, please Watch out for them.”

This month, President Joe Biden, outraged by the severity of the punishment, met with Greener’s spouse, Cheryl Greener, to discuss the White House’s push to turn the participants over to the United States again.
