Fred Ezeh from Abuja

As part of the celebrations to mark Independence Day 2022, Michael Okpara Agricultural College (MOUA), former Vice-Chancellor of Umudik, Abia State, has been named as one of Nigeria’s outstanding personalities who may receive the National Honourable Mention in October one.

The National Honor Award recognizes the contributions of people in many sectors of the economic system.

The Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, said in a letter that Professor Edeoga may be awarded the Order of the Niger (OON).

Part of the letter reads: “I have the honour to formally inform you that His Excellency Mr. Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, GCFR, has accepted to confer upon you the National Medal of Honor, at the OON rank (Officer of the Order of the Niger), inauguration ceremony Scheduled for Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Global Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.”

The recognition of Professor Edeoga is said to be unrelated to the fact that he was distinguished and left a distinguished legacy during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the Michael Okpara Agricultural College in Umudik, Abia, from 2011 to 2016.

In addition to this, he has held elected and appointed positions with the Enugu State Commissioner for several years.

Until a few months ago, he was a contestant in the race for the governorship of Enugu state.
