Fullmetal Alchemist may not have released a new anime series in quite some time, but the series remains a fan favorite in the anime world to this day. While Eric’s brothers and their military allies have drawn the attention of some who watch the anime adaptation, the villain has also managed to become a fan favorite. In Homunculi, an alchemy-spawning antagonist, Lust is perhaps the biggest of the Deadly Sins, and still wears the killer costume years after the original series.
According to fans, Lust helped usher in what many consider to be the most comforting moment in anime history. After the tragic death of Mace Hughes, the burning alchemist known as Mustang has been seeking revenge on the androids who took his life. Mustang snaps his fingers and unleashes a burst of flame capable of killing lust and avenging the “mortal sin” that caused his friend’s death. While no new animated project has been confirmed for the Fullmetal Alchemist series, the Elric brothers and Homunculi recently returned thanks to a live-action trilogy that retells the story of creator Hiroshi Arakawa ( A story born in the mind of Hiromu Arakawa).

Each of the Homunculi possesses unique abilities that live up to their namesake from the Seven Deadly Sins. Lust in particular is one of the deadliest members of her crew, and is often seen as the de facto leader of the evil group. With its aesthetic and influence on the franchise, Lust will continue to be a fan-favorite character in Fullmetal Alchemist for some time to come.

The Elric Brothers may not be coming back with a new story anytime soon, but author Hiroshi Arakawa has been working on a new manga series. The demons of The Shadow Realm have recently come to North America, and Square Enix describes creator Fullmetal Alchemist’s new series, “In a world where some command supernatural pairs called demons, this is ‘Sunrise is The children of day ‘birthright and night’ – the twins of Yoru and Asa – come to control these powerful entities. Brothers and sisters who were separated at a young age and don’t know the truth about their backgrounds must fight to return to each other, regain their birthright, and save the world…”
