San Bernardino County: A gunman who was shot by a deputy in Rancho Cucamonga dies, authorities say

Rancho Cucamonga, CA (KABC) — At Rancho Cucamonga, a man who was shot by a deputy after trying to hit him with his car has died, authorities said.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the deputy was searching for a car in the parking lot Saturday night when the suspect immediately pulled the car towards him, rammed the searched car and arrested the deputy.

This happened near Foothill Boulevard and Rochester Boulevard.

The sheriff’s department said he attacked the deputy sheriff with a knife as the suspect got out of the vehicle. The police then opened the fireplace and began beating the suspect.

He was taken to a nearby hospital on Saturday night, but died in an accident on Sunday, authorities said.

According to the sheriff’s department, there was an accident with the deputy’s leg.

The incident is under further investigation.
